Skankatronics

November 1 sees Skankatronics - Pure Wellingtronika burst forth into the stores and sweaty palms of the nation as proof that our electronica deserves as much recognition as our guitar music.

For those who haven't been rolled over by the hype machine so far, take note. Skank is the product of too many late nights on the dancefloor and behind the controls, a snapshot of Wellington's current breed of dancefloor producers ... Tracks from Wellington's own Oblique, The LRS, Polarity, Isolation, and Jet Jaguar. From lush ambience to threatening techno the compilation creates a good impression of the depth of as yet unrecognised talent in New Zealand and attempts to define the sonics of the Wellingtronika underground.

Over the last two years members of the Skankatronics crew have been pioneering their sound on Wellington City dancefloors and airwaves. The compilation is the end product of the past few months gigging and recording. But still only a small taste of the hours of sound yet to come with 12" releases and solo albums planned.
